To show the City's dedication to this initiative, owners of a plaza at Southwest Houston and Bissonnet has been served with a lawsuit as an example to other business plaza owners faced with the same problem in their properties. This particular plaza is notorious for a number of reported criminal activities like: assault, prostitution, human trafficking and even the failure to secure proper store licenses. The City of Houston is holding business plaza owners responsible for upholding the integrity of their properties and battling criminal activities like these.

The recent spike in mass shootings like the the 2012 movie theater shooting in Aurora has changed the once wholesome carefree movie night experience into a potentially worrying activity. Just a couple of weeks ago, a man was mercilessly gunned down by a fellow moviegoer for texting inside a theater in Florida. Random instance of violence like these, are becoming a serious concern for avid movie fans. 

Lately, many of us find ourselves weary around public places, especially in the pitch black rooms of the movie theater. While it is always a good idea to be cautious and vigilant in public places, feeling insecure in the movie theater can really take away the thrill and excitement of watching a much anticipated movies.

Den of Crimes: 3 Security Lessons From 2 Dangerous Houston Neighborhoods

A study conducted by NeighborhoodScout.com analyzed FBI data from 17,000 local law enforcement agencies to compose this list and sadly, two of Houston’s own made the cut.

The historic Houston Third Ward neighborhood, which is centered at the intersection of Dowling and McGowen took 15th out of the 25 most dangerous areas and showed a crime rate of 75.89, which roughly translates to a 1 in 13 chance for residents to become victims of crime in one year.
